“Waddles can’t walk that fast!”

… said I to my husband last night as we went for a walk. “Slow down!”

(Yes. I call myself ‘waddles’. ‘Preggo’ and ‘preggers’ are also often used. Most often when talking about food, for example, “Preggers wants cake!” or “Preggo wants a hamburger!” I’m classy.) Read the rest of this entry »

Home Reno Time!!!

** Warning: Photo heavy post **

Well, my dad came up today to finish up the sanding on June Bug’s room, so other than priming that wall (which should take no time at all and I might do tomorrow), it’s done!! Here’s our photo journey of the past week of renovations. Read the rest of this entry »

How cool is this?

A local reporter contacted Crystle and asked if she could come and interview us. We set up a potluck last month and she came and we had a blast eating together and chatting about what we’re doing as a community of believers and why.

Turns out she has submitted a synopsis of the story to our local newspaper and they are VERY interested in covering the story! So, in all likelihood, we’re going to be in the paper! So. Cool. =)

Oh!!! And I thought I should update on this, as well. Our community numbers have been expanding! Jan, a 25-year missionary veteran who has been back in Canada only two years, co-worker of Crystle, Crystle’s ride to work, and member of our church, has been joining us for morning prayer (we meet together Wednesday mornings to pray) and coming to our potlucks for some time now. She has been looking and praying for a house, and whaddya know? That’s right, people. She recently (last week!) bought the house on the OTHER side of Graham and Emma? Two houses beside one another for intentional community? You could argue coincidence. Three houses in a row? There’s no mistaking that for anything but God moving. It’s amazing. And encouraging. And exhilarating! She’ll hopefully be moving in sometime in late July or August. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Jan!

Holy Laundry, Batman!

So, I’ve pretty much spent the last three days doing laundry. Yes - three days! I’ve currently got my last load in the washer and dryer and it feels GREAT! I’ve washed all the baby clothes that we were either given or are borrowing and they’re sorted by size - newborn and 0-3 month, 3-6 month, and more than 6 months. I’ve also washed all the blankets, facecloths, towels, and bibs and well as prepped all the cloth diapering stuff. (Unbleached prefolds? Ugly when you get them, but they really fluff up perty once you prep them!!) The diapers that Brad’s Grandma made are really nice, and fluff up when you prep them, as well! 33 Weeks!

Yep - 33 weeks. That means one month until I’m considered full term, and only 7 weeks until June Bug’s due date. By this week, June Bug weighs around 4.5 lbs (2 kg) and is around 19 inches long. His/her main job is to put on fat and mature those lungs! Read the rest of this entry »

29 Weeks! What the heck?

So I had my 28 week appointment today. Or so I thought … *insert scary music* dun dun dun!!!!!

My secondary midwife said that she was reading through my chart and looking at my ultrasounds and bloodwork and such and talked with my primary midwife after our visit three weeks ago. She said that she was concerned that we were operating with the wrong date in mind - she says that my growth has been more according to my “original” date of June 14 … so she and Anne agreed that it would be best to operate under the assumption that my “original” date is correct.

So. I’m 29 weeks pregnant now instead of 28. That’s actually quite a big difference - at least it is in my mind! Not much is different for June Bug - he/she is still packing on the fat and apparently depositing a RIDICULOUS amount of calcium in his/her bones every day. Note to self: more calcium!

So, 11 weeks is left, not 12. Eleven. Holy Cow. 12 weeks was three months … 11 weeks, not so much! I feel like we still have so much to do!

Today Brad and I went to pick out the rest of the furniture for our bedroom set. We have it ordered and it should get delivered in 2 - 3 weeks, which is wonderful! I’m looking forward to having our room take shape and not look so thrown-together. We purchased a ‘door chest’ (randomly, Sears sells our set, and you can see this piece of furniture HERE), a six-drawered dresser, and two nightstands. Oh cool! You can actually see our bed HERE. Sorry. That was random! Regardless, I’m thrilled that we’ve bit (bitten?) the bullet and bought the set!
