Dear Tutor,

Can you please just agree with something I say ONCE this term? Really, I’d just be happy if you didn’t openly disagree with everything I say. Perhaps just a silent disagreement without necessarily voicing it? *sigh*

I’m so ready for school to be done. This is my … *counts in head* 5th year of school, which, in my humble opinion, is 3-ish years too long already. I’m trying to keep my eyes on the prize though. Must. Make it. Must. Get. Degree.

On a brighter note, I got the yarn for Brad’s hat on Monday evening and I’m hoping to get back at it tonight at some point. I’ve got a test tomorrow and a 5% paper due, but I’m pretty well done the paper, and I’m not too concerned about the test, although I should go over some of it tonight. Maybe I can get in even a half hour of knitting. It’s bizzare - I actually miss it!

Here’s a pic my dad just sent me: snorkelling (snorkeling?) at Xpu Ha in Mexico (pronounced Shpoo-ha, not ex-poo-ha). I’m the one sitting down. No, not the man putting on the flipper, the one with her feet in the water. Brad’s standing behind me. We snorkelled (snorkeled?) at this cool place where an underground fresh-water river meets the salt water of the ocean. It was still really salty though. And cold.

Bonjour, tout le monde!

C’est ma premiere poste pour 10 jours! Q’est-ce-que c’est? Je m’excuse, c’est l’ecole qui a m’attention! Ah, j’aime le francais!

So anyways, I’ve been gone a while again. I’ve started my new clinical placement on a psychiatric floor, and it’s quite fascinating! I’m definitely enjoying my learning experience. My tutor?? Not so much! BUT, she’s got a medical problem, and might have to go get surgery (recovery is 5 weeks), so we might actually get another tutor, which would make the experience that much better!!!

I finished the hat - but it’s kinda crappy! Because I picked up stiches on the cast-on edge and knit down, the bind off edge (which is apparently always tight) is at the bottom where it NEEDS to stretch the most, so it doesn’t stretch a whole lot and doens’t fit over my head very well. Oh well. Here’s a pic:

So, I’ve started Brad’s hat, but haven’t got very far - I haven’t had much time to work on it. It would probably only take me an evening or two though, so I really want to get it done! I’m having visions of needing more yarn though *cringe* I hope not cuz I bought it at a special yarn store when a friend took me, so I really don’t have much of a way to get there - and it’s expensive yarn. C’mon one ball!

Since I showed you all a pic of our little boy, Grissom, I’d like to show you our little girl, Lily:

Um … I’m trying to think of something interesting to write, and I’ve. Got. Nothing. Really, I’m trying to procrastinate from starting all my homework. Due to **, I’ve got to hand in two major assignments a week before they’re really due, and I need to start researching them in order to begin them. It just seems too early in the term to be starting 3000 word papers!! WHY??!?!?!? *sobs uncontrollably*

** MEXICO COUNTDOWN: 17 days! We’re going for my oldest sister’s wedding, and we’re getting really excited! Our passports should be arriving soon, we’ve bought our luggage, and I’ve gotta find some long-sleeved cotton or linen shirts so I don’t get horribly burnt while we’re there.

Mmmmm … chocolate milk …

Well. After a short break for formatting the blog, eating two cookies and drinking a tall glass of super-chocolately chocolate milk, I’m back to write my first *official* blog entry (I don’t count that introducing stuff as a real one!).

So, I’ll start with work. I work as a technician at a hospital in my city, and in this particular hospital we have need to use specific chemical disinfection procedures. So, when I first started (in 2005), I noticed that when I used a lot of this chemical (4 - 12 shifts … at the end of the night, we disinfect all the machines we use which is about 20 machines all at once) I would get a sore throat and it would be a touch difficult to breathe. I mentioned it to a couple of people who said that it was normal and not to worry. So I didn’t. A couple of months ago, I started feeling like I was coming down with something because every time I went in to work, I would get a KILLER sore throat! And now, most recently, I have been having some shortness of breath and “bronchial tightness” (read: feels like throat is closing in). I didn’t want to start a big hoopla in my department (a lady died there several years ago from exposure to this chemical, so people are a little touchy about it) so I thought I’d just go to occupational health and tell them and see if I could get an allergy test done and in the meantime just avoid the chemical. So I went. Today. At 9:45. And was there until 11:00. ARG! The nurse there grilled me about everything and we had to fill out incident forms, and they need to be faxed the manager, and I need work accomodation, etc. etc. So now I have a doctor’s appointment on Friday to see if I need to go for this crazy allergy test. What a nightmare! I discussed it with my hubby, and he said that I did what was right and not to worry, but my department is crazy bad for talking about people behind their backs - I’m just waiting now for the talking to start. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to keep yourself safe! I just don’t want people saying that I’m trying to get out of working by doing this. *sigh*

Then, to make things better, hubby needed a gift for his work’s secret santa (he’s in a co-op position with one of the national banks in TO right now), so I had to go across the city to get some chocolates. So, a guy from work (one of the nice ones) lent me his car - which I drove there and back (10 mins one way) with the PARKING BRAKE ON!!!!! Needless to say, I feel like a bit of an ass. I explained to him that my parents NEVER use their parking brakes, and he laughed and said he does it all the time with his van and not to worry. I feel a bit better now =)

As for the knitting, I took a pic of project numero uno with my ghetto digital camera, but I can’t find the USB adaptor to put it on my laptop. So I will tell you that I’m knitting a scarf, of course!! I’ll upload pics later.

My break from school is going wonderfully - although it’s not much of a break because I’m working so much =( I don’t go back until January 3 and I only have one exam - December 18 and it’s my LAST EXAM FOR MY UNDERGRAD!!!! WUHOO!!!! I’ll still have to write my RNs at the end, but at least there are no more course exams. I also got back a 40% paper for one of my courses today: A+! *pats self on back* Apparently it wasn’t too bad!

Hello Blog World!

So. After several years of believing that the principles of blogging were very silly and after several months of ferociously devouring other people’s blogs and dreaming about my own and what witty remarks I would put therein, I have succommed to the blogging world.

I will introduce myself as Kim, a student nurse at one of the province’s biggest (and, so they say, best) schools who lives in a largeish ciry in Ontario, Canada. I am quite recently married (October 7!!) to my highschool sweetheart - I’m sure someday I’ll post all about our story - AwwWwWwWw. I also recently took up knitting (recent as in last week) and have a few weeks off (of school, not work) until the New Year.

Welcome to all who know who I am IRL, and to those who know me from online!
