Trains, babywearing, and couches – oh my!

I never knew how intense being a mother could be until I experienced being solely responsible for two kids under two for 8+ hours per day. It’s intense! Most days are good … although I still don’t feel like I’ve got a “rhythm” yet. When Gwen was a wee babe, I’d found my stride by now, but two is completely different!

Look at this little guy’s rolls! Read the rest of this entry »

First real owie … and more!

I realized the other day that I’ve been TOTALLY slacking off in putting up pictures of Gwen. I’m feeling super busy these days … although I’m sure finally having The OC: Season Four on my computer is NOT helping with my productivity!

Photo Shoot

I thought it would be fun to let Gwen hang around sans diaper (that’s without a diaper for you Americans!) and take some cute photos of her. She LOVES playing with her diaper off (more movement?) and, of course, is adorable. I managed to get some good ones! Read the rest of this entry »

New Toy!

So Brad’s brother and his girlfriend visited us for a few days from last Saturday until Wednesday afternoon. It was wonderful to have people in the house during the day!!! They have been in Vancouver for the last 8 months and are off to Rome for four and then to Dublin for another four – so this was the first and last time they’ll see Gwen for a while! Website!!

Brad is currently working on a photo sharing piece for our website so we can put up a tonne of pictures of Gwen and it can be easily accessed. It’ll be password protected, so as long as you’re a friend, you can have the password and see our pictures! This here blog will be eventually migrating over there too – it’ll still be a WordPress blog, but it’ll be a .org one instead of a .com – hosted on our website. I’m excited that it’s actually getting on it’s way. Brad’s also programming me a recipe/grocery program too, so I can have all my recipes online and click them and it’ll print out the groceries needed for the specific recipes. Cool, huh?

Tuesdays (or Thursdays, depending on my work schedule) are for …

Going to the market! Now, I had a whole huge post planned out on this topic, that was going to be complete with a picture of the items that I purchased today that I lugged home on my back, but my camera battery needs recharging (boo!!!) – so that’s that! Maybe another week I’ll play the pity-me-because-I-buy-so-many-fruits-and-veg-that-my-arms-and-back-hurt-after-I-bring-them-home game. Phew!

However, for your viewing enjoyment, I will put on some pretty flower pics that I’ve taken with the camera (thank you ‘flower’ setting!). Enjoy!

Picture website, new blog and TWO warm wrists!

Wow! What a busy day (well … busily getting things done, but not really BUSY … anyways …)

I got to sleep in, which was oh-so-nice =) And then, since Brad is busily working on homework (thumbs down to homework on reading week!) I got to fool-around on my computer all day! SOOOOOOOooo, I decided that since I do *not* write about nursing enough to justify naming my blog about it, I would change it :) If you want, let me know how you like the new name and/or if you ever visit my blog by leaving a comment!!

Also new to the blog is a picture website that I organized today, hosted at dotphoto. It currently has lots of pictures from my wedding, my big sister’s wedding, and from our vacation in Mexico. It’s first on the links menu (see right), so click on there if you want to see pictures – just type ‘kimbrad’ as the guest password =) I hope you enjoy!

And, for the piece de la resistance, les wrist warmers!!!

For my first matching finished objects, they’re pretty darn good! They’re a bit big (I cast on 32 stiches, but I think I could easily have only done 28) and one is (I think) 2 – 4 rows longer, but even so, they’re great!! And they keep my hands nice and toasty!! Wuhoo! That’s three finished objects. THREE! Ha-ha-ha (*count laugh*). I finished the second one last night at about 11:30 or midnight, and I think I only spent about 3 or 4 hours total – so I think “one day wristwarmers” is actually pretty accurate! It probably took me around 9 – 10 hours instead of the projected 8, but I’m a new knitter, so that’s to be expected. When I find the pattern, I’ll post it =)

Well. I think that’s enough updating for today! Have a good evening, all!

Edited to add: … coolest picture ever! Check this out – my dad (on the far left) caught a SHARK while we were in Mexico!!! A shark!! And, if you’re a nature guru, it’s a bull shark, which means that it’s one of those sharks that likes to eat people. And it was in the boat with them. Alive. For like, 45 minutes. Alive. With it’s jaw flapping.

"It’s doing bad things outside …"

Like snowing. Ugh.

Buenos Dias!! We arrived at Toronto Pearson at 8:00-ish last night from the lovely Cancun airport. We keep looking outside the apartment window expecting to see palm trees and ocean :( But, I shan’t complain, because we had a rockin’ time! The resort was incredible, the food and drinks were incredible, and my sister’s wedding was absolutely beautiful!! We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed ourselves. I mean, we were looking forward to it and everything, but we did NOT expect to have as great a time as we did! After being assured that the staff was paid well and that tourism is basically the ONLY thing supporting the ecomomy in the Cancun/Mayan Riviera area, we felt a lot better about everything. I will tell you, though, that the staff quite enjoyed asking us if, when we asked for water, we would like Mexican water (tequila) =) We brought a bottle home with us (thanks for the groomsmen gifts, J & S!) and are waiting for the opportune moment to relive some Mexico. My parents are already talking about getting together for margaritas and photos on my dad’s big screen (big. literally. the thing is like 8 or 9 feet across and rolls down from the ceiling.) with another couple that came. We are definitely looking forward to that!

So, back to the daily grind for us. I’ll post some pics (or maybe I’ll start a Flikr gallery – it’s easier!) so you can all see how beautiful it was =) Brad’s got a TONNE of homework (assignements, tests, midterms, papers, etc.) due this week, so that wasn’t very fun to come home to, but at least we had a lovely week of relaxing! We have also heard that we missed the WORST WEATHER EVER HERE, and that kids weren’t allowed to play outside for recess until Friday of last week – I guess my sis couldn’t have picked a better week! Woo wedding week in Mexico!

Mexico, here we come!

So, it’s Friday! I’m not entirely sure how it managed to get here so quickly, but anyways, it’s here! Brad’s still cranking out school work that needs to be done before we leave and I, thankfully, finished both papers that needed to get done *sigh of relief* We go to my parent’s tonight in order to leave for the airport at 7:30 tomorrow morning (via a shuttle thinger. maybe a limo? I’m not too sure!). I’ll be bringing my lappy, so maybe I’ll sneak a pic or two onto the blog while we’re gone. We’ll be thinking of you all!! (I say that now … please don’t be offended if I forget as I’m sure the beach, pool, tours, and all-inclusive food and drinks will be demanding a LOT of my attention not to mention the wedding of my big sister!!! I can’t wait to welcome my soon-to-be brother-in-law into the family!)

BTW, for those of you interested in my knitting, I’ve put Brad’s hat on hold for the moment (can’t get more yarn, so it would be silly to take it with) and I’m going to be casting on for some wrist warmer for our far-too-cold apartment. Hopefully I can crank the two pairs out over the next week (the pattern says they’re ‘one day wristwarmers’ – we’ll see!!) I’m using a boring white/gray yarn – but it’s soft, so they should be uber-comfy.
