Holy Laundry, Batman!

So, I’ve pretty much spent the last three days doing laundry. Yes - three days! I’ve currently got my last load in the washer and dryer and it feels GREAT! I’ve washed all the baby clothes that we were either given or are borrowing and they’re sorted by size - newborn and 0-3 month, 3-6 month, and more than 6 months. I’ve also washed all the blankets, facecloths, towels, and bibs and well as prepped all the cloth diapering stuff. (Unbleached prefolds? Ugly when you get them, but they really fluff up perty once you prep them!!) The diapers that Brad’s Grandma made are really nice, and fluff up when you prep them, as well! 35 Weeks!

I can’t believe how close it’s getting now! 99% of babies born at this point survive without ANY major problems - wuhoo! June Bug’s central nervous system is developing, his/her digestive system maturation is almost complete, and the lungs are usually fully mature. He/she weighs around 5.5 lbs (!!!) and is around 20 inches long from head to toe. June Bug likely won’t gain much length anymore, but will put on around a half-pound per week until delivery. 34 Weeks!

Breathe. Three weeks till full term. Breathe.

June Bug weighs around 5 lbs (!!!) and is almost 20 inches long from head to toe. He/she is tumbling around in my belly (to mine and Brad’s great delight) and is packing on the pounds. Apparently the hair that covered his/her body is decreasing and the vernix (think cottage cheese) is increasing in anticipation of delivery. To see how big June Bug is, click HERE. 33 Weeks!

Yep - 33 weeks. That means one month until I’m considered full term, and only 7 weeks until June Bug’s due date. By this week, June Bug weighs around 4.5 lbs (2 kg) and is around 19 inches long. His/her main job is to put on fat and mature those lungs! Read the rest of this entry »

32 Weeks!

And it gets closer and closer!

June Bug weighs around 4 lbs and is about 19 inches long from head to toe. Apparently, he/she may already have a full head of hair - although with genes from Brad and I to deal with, the likelihood is that the poor thing will never have hair! I’m pretty sure that June Bug’s head down now (from the location of the hiccups I’m feeling now!!) and I’m loving feeling little body parts poking out at me! Read the rest of this entry »

31 Week Update

31 weeks + 3 days already. It’s flying by, people!! Things here are very good - I’m settling into my new routine of not having to go to school and have clinical for 24+ hours a week, and am enjoying the ability to sit down and rest. Read the rest of this entry »

30 Weeks!!! 10 Weeks Until Due Date!!

Although it could really be anywhere from 8 weeks from now until 12 weeks from now.

June Bug currently weighs 3 lbs (like a cantaloupe!) and is about 17 inches from head to toe. He/she is getting very squished! June Bug is practicing breathing by breathing amniotic fluid in and out. Little toe nails are growing on some very tiny and very cute toes, and the bone marrow has taken over red blood cell production from the liver. I can’t believe how complex our baby is - God truly is amazing to have created the little one growing in my womb. We’re so blessed! Read the rest of this entry »

Wow.

So, I finished my last day of clinical today.

Which means I’m officially done my University Degree.

My wonderful preceptor (Hi Heather!) gave me a classical music CD to play for June Bug, a hippie (lol - it’s so me) bracelet that she made (she makes micro-macramé jewelery - it’s really pretty!!), and a book I’ve been wanting forever (how’d she know??) - The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs. I can’t wait to relax and read it!

The end to my University career feels so anti-climactic. Maybe it’s because I have to go to bed early so I can get up at 5:30 so I can walk to work for a 6:30 - 14:30 shift … maybe it’s because it doesn’t quite feel real yet. Either way, it’s done, and that’s that!
