Hey everyone - it’s Earth Hour 2009. What are you doing?
I’m sitting in my living room lit with candles and the glow of electric computer screen
I’m also thinking right now of the impact an event like this can have on the world. If we all did it, just think of the impression we could make!

I’ve been meaning to write this post for a week, but everytime I had a minute to it, Gwen was sleeping on me and the cord I need for the camera was upstairs!
So, after much praying/researching/discussing, Brad and I decided that we won’t be Hallowe’en haters =) I have been feeling a bit confused by Hallowe’en’s pagan underpinnings and relationship and whether or not we should join in the festivities. We decided that we won’t carve pumpkins or dress/decorate scary, but dressing up and candy? We’re down with that! (If anyone wants to know more about our decision-making process, leave a comment and I’ll write up another post about it!) Read the rest of this entry »

… said I to my husband last night as we went for a walk. “Slow down!”
(Yes. I call myself ‘waddles’. ‘Preggo’ and ‘preggers’ are also often used. Most often when talking about food, for example, “Preggers wants cake!” or “Preggo wants a hamburger!” I’m classy.) Read the rest of this entry »

** Warning: Photo heavy post **
Well, my dad came up today to finish up the sanding on June Bug’s room, so other than priming that wall (which should take no time at all and I might do tomorrow), it’s done!! Here’s our photo journey of the past week of renovations. Read the rest of this entry »

A local reporter contacted Crystle and asked if she could come and interview us. We set up a potluck last month and she came and we had a blast eating together and chatting about what we’re doing as a community of believers and why.
Turns out she has submitted a synopsis of the story to our local newspaper and they are VERY interested in covering the story! So, in all likelihood, we’re going to be in the paper! So. Cool. =)
Oh!!! And I thought I should update on this, as well. Our community numbers have been expanding! Jan, a 25-year missionary veteran who has been back in Canada only two years, co-worker of Crystle, Crystle’s ride to work, and member of our church, has been joining us for morning prayer (we meet together Wednesday mornings to pray) and coming to our potlucks for some time now. She has been looking and praying for a house, and whaddya know? That’s right, people. She recently (last week!) bought the house on the OTHER side of Graham and Emma? Two houses beside one another for intentional community? You could argue coincidence. Three houses in a row? There’s no mistaking that for anything but God moving. It’s amazing. And encouraging. And exhilarating! She’ll hopefully be moving in sometime in late July or August. Welcome to the neighbourhood, Jan!

I can’t believe how close it’s getting now! 99% of babies born at this point survive without ANY major problems - wuhoo! June Bug’s central nervous system is developing, his/her digestive system maturation is almost complete, and the lungs are usually fully mature. He/she weighs around 5.5 lbs (!!!) and is around 20 inches long from head to toe. June Bug likely won’t gain much length anymore, but will put on around a half-pound per week until delivery. Maybe about something non-baby related?
So, we’ve been in our new house for about a week and a half. The move went VERY well - we had so much help we could hardly believe it!! We are truly blessed to have all the friends we did come and help us out. Read the rest of this entry »

Well, the electrical work on the house is … interesting. Because all of our walls are still intact, it makes it a much harder job for the electrician to do his job! Needless to say, there are holes in my house where there were not holes before that will need to be repaired. Sigh.
Thankfully, my dad is able to come up tomorrow to assist the electrician (thanks, daddy!) which means they should be able to get quite a bit done, since my dad has quite a bit of experience with it all. I’m going to be going with them to help out, so I’ll be taking pictures. Of the holes.
We knew it was necessary to redo the wiring, but it’s still hard seeing it done! The electrician is hoping that he can have everything done by Friday evening in time for moving day. I’m trying not to think of the alternative!
(p.s. I’ve got my ultrasound tomorrow! I’ll be 18 weeks + 6 days, so almost 19 weeks right on. Excited!!!)
