Best. Trade. Ever.

So you know how I wrote a while back about being so disappointed in not being able to find a used Phil & Teds buggy?

Shortly after that post I noticed an aquaintence had an almost three-year-old and a Phil & Teds. So, being the crazy kook I am, I straight up asked if they were almost done with it and would they be willing to sell it to me?

They decided that they weren’t quite ready to live without a stroller as their daughter wasn’t terribly interested in walking everywhere and she accompanied them daily to drop their oldest at school.

So, after a good friend was able to trade her UPPAbaby Vista for a Phil & Teds for the upcoming arrival of her second baby, I thought to myself …

“Hmmm … I’ve got a Bertini in my basement that I was going to sell on Kijiji to put toward my Phil & Ted fund. Maybe I could offer to trade them?”

Followed closely by …

“Good gracious, my grandmother would have no idea what I meant with that sentence.”

So, I put the question out to them, brought the buggy over for them to view and it was a done deal!

Tonight, I became the proud (and terribly excited owner!) of an Apple Green Phil & Teds E3 Sport Buggy with storm cover and doubles kit.

YAY! I’m so excited, I want to go wake Gwen up and take her for a ride! Or maybe not! I think I can wait until morning ;) I’ll take some pictures tomorrow.

Featured on TIPS site!

For anyone who isn’t following along in the comments on my Doidy Cup post, I thought I’d let you all know that my review has been added to the pressing cuttings page at TIPS Ltd.!

I’m thinking that’s pretty cool, seeing as how I’d really like to write reviews for a living. I didn’t get paid for this one, but maybe if I keep up the reviews and keep submitting them to the companies I will eventually?

Product Review: The Doidy Cup

**Edited to add a link to the TIPS Open Mouth Cups Awards that I checked out during my research. Also, take a look at the comment from midwife and TIPS founder, Sharon!**

A couple of weeks ago I was listening to a Midirs podcast about cup feeding and they were recommending the use of Bickiepegs’ The Doidy Cup for early supplementation, introduction of a cup, and weaning baby to a cup from a bottle. They were cautioning against the use of spouted cups, citing research that may indicate that the use (and prolonged use) of such cups may lead to poor nutritional habits. They encouraged the use of an open cup for drinking at mealtimes.

After doing a bit of poking around at the different open-mouthed cup options, I thought I’d give The Doidy Cup a try. I ordered from the online store (located in the UK) on May 20th, and the cups arrived in the mail today (only 8 days!). I was eager to try them out and see what Gwen would think of them, so I brought it out at dinner. Read the rest of this entry »

Too funny …

… that in this post, I said that I was planning on using a baby carrier for the first few weeks.

Here we are - Gwen’s almost 11 months old and I can count on one hand the number of times we’ve had her in the stroller. I love wearing my baby!

I totally forget …

… what I was planning to blog about.

Today my mom came down and took me to Snuggle Bugz - a baby store in Burlington. I picked up a JJ Cole Picnic Blanket (the grey/green one) and a bumGenius Diaper Sprayer. Yay!

Slacker!

I have totally been slacking at taking the pictures off my camera and updating le blog and le Facebook with pictures of my beautiful little girl. Maybe it’s because every moment she’s awake I’m ripping my laptop cord out of her mouth if I dare to open it up regardless of HOW FAR AWAY FROM IT I put her, or maybe it’s that I’ve been really tired lately and I just haven’t wanted to take the effort.

Either option is sad. Read the rest of this entry »

Discover Much? A Product Review.

I know I mentioned it at Christmas, but my parents bought Gwen a Yookidoo Discovery Playhouse for Christmas. It’s rated for 12 months +, but I figured once she started moving, she’d probably have a blast with it! Read the rest of this entry »

Lions and Tigers and Pears, Oh My!

Hey Mom!

We’ve been putting Gwen in the high chair at dinner time for a few days to get her used to sitting with us for meals. I put her in today for lunch and she had a great time! (See the drool on that bib? We went through 3 bibs today. So. Much. Drool. And I’m pretty sure I feel a tooth coming in!)

We signed up for a CSA for this winter through Plan B Organic Farms. We got our first delivery last Tuesday and it is wonderful to be getting fresh, organic veggies dropped off at our house again. Included in the drop-off was some pears, which we didn’t get to. They were getting quite soft (I’m a firm-fruit person … mushy fruit is not my thing!) so I decided to cook them up and make some baby food! I boiled them in a touch of water and then put them through my KidCo Food Mill (thanks, Jen!). I dropped teaspoonfuls (?? is that a word?? or is it teaspoonsful?) onto parchment paper on a cookie sheet and popped it in the freezer. A few hours later, I popped the pucks in a labeled bag.
