7 days till my due date

I can’t believe we’re sitting here at 39 weeks pregnant and playing the waiting game. My last trimester has absolutely flown by and it’s crazy to think that in just a matter of hours, I could be holding Love Bug on the outside.

I had an appointment on Monday - my blood pressure was 110/70, negative for protein/glucose in urine, heartrate was 144. My fundal height measured 37 weeks, so they think I might have dropped - probably Saturday’s day worth of decent contractions moved baby down far enough … I’m definitely less comfortable sitting than I have been the rest of my pregnancy!

We discussed doing an internal and a stretch-and-sweep, but I declined both. Really, knowing how far I am or am not dilated is NOT going to help me (I’d probably just obsess about it, really), and I’m a bit cautious about introducing the potential GBS past my cervix if they were doing a stretch-and-sweep. I might consider it after my due date, but I didn’t want one at this point.

I’m having lots of uncomfortable Braxton-Hicks contractions that are making each day a little more difficult than the last. Yesterday, I think I had them every 5 - 10 minutes from about 1PM until bedtime. Some of them last nearly a minute!

It’s funny. Up until Saturday, I was *not* feeling at all prepared to have this baby. Sure, we’ve got everything we need, but I was feeling emotionally UN-ready. I think most of it stems from the fact that I soooooo didn’t feel ready to have Gwen not be my baby. But after a full day’s worth of contractions that I was SURE was leading to a baby, I’m ready.

Hear that, Love Bug?

We’re ready to meet you!

love the little potty beside the big potty. too cute. if we had the room we’d do that too but we use the ring covers (dora downstairs and diego upstairs). we do have a little potty off to the side in the kitchen (by the breakfast table); it gets the most use!

your belly is beautiful! you do look like you dropped. can’t wait… won’t be long now xoxo

Thanks, ladies!!! It’s apparently really uncommon for women with their second (or more) babies to ‘drop’, so I guess we’ll see how long it takes from here!
