We really liked doing EC! There were times it seemed like more trouble than it was worth, but we would just back off then and take it easier. You can do it part time (we used cloth diapers as backup) and still keep your baby aware of their elimination needs. Our son was out of diapers just before he turned 2, but what I most appreciated was just the way we were able to offer him a way to eliminate in a way that was respectful of his needs. He really, really hated having a wet diaper, so we knew he preferred the potty.

Definitely interesting.

However, our potty training experiences have been relatively easy (so far! :) ), and I don't think it would've been worth it for me to go that route.

Too late now anyway ;)

I have to say I was as skeptical as you when I first heard about EC. We did some late-starter techniques with dd#1 beginning at about 13 months and began almost at birth with dd#2. It was incredible. At about 2 months old, wearing dd in a wrap in Lowe's she woke from a short nap, & squirmed around. I knew she had to go, but I was in line and ready to pay. I told her I couldn't help just yet, but I would as soon as I could. Got to the car, expecting a wet diaper, and it was dry. Back into the store, to the restrooms at the very back of the building, and she held it till I got her situated over the toilet.

And that was just the beginning. The best part was my excitement at listening and responding to one more aspect of my child's needs. Just like I figured out when she was hungry before she cried, I figured out when she had to go. It wasn't an exact science. But in my experience, nothing with my kids is exactly like anything I expect.

Good luck. If you're interested check this out: http://www.voiceamerica.com/voiceamerica/vepisode.aspx?aid=43927
