What’s new?
On Friday, I had my 29 week appointment. According to their wildly inaccurate scales (the one I normally weigh myself on is 10 lbs less than most scales, and that bathroom was out of order, so I weighed myself in the other), I’ve gained 30 lbs. I’m 99.8% sure I’ve gained around 20, so I’m trying not to be too concerned!!
My BP was 102/66, -ve for protein and glucose in the urine, fundal height measuring 28 weeks, heartrate in the 150s with a beautiful acceleration as we listened
My secondary midwife is much more laid back than my primary about the varicose veins and superficial clots. She did a bunch of her clinical placement time in a small town a few hours from here which has a large population of mennonites and saw a tonnes of nasty varicose veins and superficial clots! I declined the gestational diabetes test (thank you very much!) and we discussed place of birth and setting up childcare supports for Gwen for during labour and directly after birth. She is guestimating (heehee - I love that word!) that I’m going to have a 6 - 7 pound boy before my due date and that my labour, if it follows ‘normal’ changes between first and second labours, will be 4 hours start to finish. ACK. I know it’s just a guess, though!
I had another compression ultrasound today to make sure I’m not developping any DVT and it was clear! YAY! I was also lucky enough to get a nice sneak peek of Love Bug - a gorgeous profile, a beautifully beating heart, some arms, hands, and a foot! I’ve never seen an ultrasound that late before, so it was neat to see how much bigger he/she is! Heartrate was 152 - I think it’s 152 every single time they check it at those ultrasounds!
Other than that, my clot is hurting less today than it has since it came to be, which is nice. I’m doing a lot of knitting (um, hello, holidays!) and watching Glee!
