All is quiet …
… in the blogosphere. Or at least it seems that way to me.
My poor Gwen is sick
After her bath this afternoon, around 4:00, she began shivering. I assumed it was because she was cold and wet, so I dried her off and dressed her. She cried while I dressed her - which is very abnormal for her - and was clingy and nursing frequently. Her toes hit me and they were like ice as were her little hands. I felt her forehead and her abdomen - burning hot. Her axillary temperature was 101.5.
I called the after-hours triage nurse at our medical practice and she asked me some questions. Since she was exhibiting no other symptoms, there wasn’t much she could tell me! She said to keep an eye on it, medicate her for a fever over 102 and call back if it goes to 104.
Then, at 5:30, she threw up. Poor thing! She had been happily sitting in her high chair babbling away and drinking her water when she coughed a bit and then threw up. We were sure that we were in for a long night of cleaning up vomit, but although she was sleepy, cuddly, and obvioulsly uncomfortable afterward, she nursed three times and drank a fair amount of water between that time and 7:30, when she went to bed. It’s now 9:30 and we’ve yet to hear a peep from her room (other than the occasional roll-over) and she hasn’t vomited since, so we’re not sure if it was sensitive-gag-reflex or regular sickness related.
I suppose time will tell. In the meantime, please pray!
