What does that thing say?

That’s right, people. After telling you all to stop it already and we’re so not ready for that yet and how can you joke about such a thing?

Brad and I are preparing to welcome a new member into our little family!

Here’s the FAQ:

What’s your due date? February 25, 2010

Wow! Was this planned? Um, no. This is at least 6 months earlier than we had anticipated.

When did you find out? Thursday, June 18 at 1:30 pm.

How many tests did you take? Two, because I thought that surely that first one must be a dud test since a faint positive showed up right away. After the second one showed a faint right away, I looked back at the first and it was dark dark dark pink. Oh right. Wait 1 - 3 minutes to read the test NOT 20 seconds. I’m telling you people, stop buying those expensive drug store tests and get your butt to a dollar store. $1 tests work just as well as $12 tests (oh, and I’ve got two extra if anyone wants them!)!

Yeah that’s right, there’s two.

Are you planning to wean Gwen? Heck no! In fact, I’m hoping that she nurses until she’s at least 18 months, but I do realize that most babies wean during pregnancy for a variety of reasons. I’m even (gasp!) willing to tandem nurse her with the new baby.

Are you terribly excited? Shocked. Happy, even. But excited is a strong word just now. As time goes by, we’re getting more and more excited.

So how far apart will they be? Gwen will be about 21 months old when the new baby is born.

What did Brad say? He was shocked. And asked if we were ready for this. My response was, “Does it matter?” He said “Good point!” and then he came home from work a bit early and brought me flowers, saying that even though it’s a bit earlier than we were expecting, it’s still a wonderful blessing and something to celebrate. I love my man.

Do you have a witty name picked out for this baby yet? I’m thinking Love Bug. Ya know, since it’s in February which has Valentine’s Day. And since he/she was obviously conceived in a fit of passion ;)

Are you hoping for a boy or a girl? Honestly, I’m happy with either! It would be neat to have a boy, but at the same time if they’re that close together, I’d kinda like Gwen to have a sister.

Do you have names picked out? Yup! But we’re not telling!

Are you going to find out the sex of the baby? Noper! Well I guess, technically, we’ll eventually find out … But at the birth!

Homebirth again? Heck YES.

So what’s going on in baby land? I’m 5 weeks today, which means that today or tomorrow, Love Bug’s heart will begin beating (isn’t that just amazing?) and he/she is about the size of a grain of rice.

How are you feeling? Absolutely great, thanks! Really hungry. Apparently nourishing one baby and growing another is hard work! Sadly, my varicose veins have already begun to make an appearance :( And I’m not feeling *terribly* great that a friend already said that she was going to ask if I was pregnant since she thought my belly was looking bigger. Ah, well. Bellies are fun :)

maybe i’ve been hearing mixed things about that - not sure if its still jan-dec or if its sept - aug?

it’s jan-dec … if you’re born in, say 2004, you start kindergarten in Sept 2008 … but you can always hold him/her back until the next year if you don’t think he/she will be ready for school … I know some parents do that with kids born at the very end of December.

    YAY!

Haha, I love that it’s earlier than you guys expected.

With such a strong name in Gwendolyn, can you match a sibling to it??
