No-Poo Update #2
Well, I took the plunge shortly after my birthday, March 7, and I updated a few weeks later.
I think it’s high time I updated again!
It’s now been 2.5 months since I’ve used shampoo on my hair. Wow. When I say it like that it seems pretty incredible, eh?
I took this picture with my computer this morning. I didn’t wash my hair today and you can’t even tell. You have no idea how big this is for me! Since grade 6 or 7, I’ve been washing my hair EVERY DAY with shampoo because if I didn’t … well, I was a big, nasty grease-ball.
For the first few weeks, I tried desperately to wash every other day. My hair was gross on the off-days. After about two or three weeks, I coudn’t do it anymore, so I started washing with the baking soda every day and doing and apple cider vingar rinse every couple of days.
Around the 1.5 month mark, I noticed that I probably didn’t have to wash it every day (yay, detox!) but since I have short hair and I wake up and it’s EVERYWHERE, I couldn’t go without a shower and getting it wet to re-style it (I use the word ’style’ loosely. Really I just comb it and let it do whatever. My hairdresser would be appalled!). I have occasionally in the past showered without washing my hair, but normally getting my hair wet without washing it makes it … you guessed it … gross.
So I decided to try alternating baking soda washes with conditioner-only washes. It worked great! I kept that up for about 3 weeks.
Then, a week ago, I decided to see what would happen if I did a water-only wash.
My hair (gasp!) looked absolutely fine! A week later, I’m actually washing my hair every-other-day. For the first time in almost 15 years. And for the first time in my LIFE, it doesn’t look greasy by the end of the day!
Right now, my baking soda wash is about 1 tbsp baking soda: 1/2 cup water and then I rinse every time I wash with a mix of 1 tsp apple cider vinegar: 1 cup water (I mix this is a bottle and it takes me about 3 or 4 weeks to go through it all) and it’s awesome.
I’m completely poo-free! Thanks, Christine, for being crazy enough to try this and post about it on your blog and for being awesome enough that I actually thought I might give it a try if a cool girl like you could do it ![]()

That’s amazing!
Don’t think I’m convince to try it myself yet, but it’s amazing!
