Neither of us believed we liked curries either, until a friend made a curry that was nothing like we thought curry could ever be! The word 'curry' actually just refers to a mixture of spices. We've become slightly less spice wimps, but it was definitely not an overpowering curry taste. You could always do what I did and use half the turmeric and cumin the first time you make it and decide if that's strong enough for you.
