Happy 11 Months!

I can’t believe my baby girl is only one short month away from turning one.

When did this happen?

I love paper! from Kim Schell on Vimeo.

Gwen loves to walk everywhere. When she’s sitting on my lap, she’ll grab my two pointer fingers and launch herself off me onto the floor and run. I swear, this child will run before she walks!

Showing Off the Skillz from Kim Schell on Vimeo.

Gwen now dances when we say “Are you dancing?” or “Are you going to dance?” (video to come soon). She is quickly figuring out how to use a fork and spoon and is so very proud of herself whenever she balances a morsel of food on either!

Gwen has, in the last week, started stacking! She is stacking everything on everything (eg. a clean diaper on a pillow or a block on my knee) and is making many an attempt to speak - her babbles are sounding distinctly word-ish. She often says “Hi!” and says “DAW!” accompanied by an excited point for ‘dog’.

On Mother’s Day, my dad was able to witness one of Gwen’s real temper tantrums. Having raised three girls himself, I wasn’t expecting him to be surprised, and he wasn’t.

He was speechless.

Gwen wanted to play with some books of my parents’. I said “No, Gwen.” and moved her away from them, trying to distract her with another toy.

She screamed bloody murder for 5 minutes and after trying many different things to calm and distract her, the only thing that helped was nursing her! After suckling for a few seconds and looking into my eyes, she pushed away and was fine. Now I understand what they mean when they say that nursing tames the savage toddler!

I love the video of Gwen and the paper! Reminds me a lot of my Gwen splashing in the bath … same enthusiasm, same repetitive movements and noises. I was STUNNED to see the table behind Gwen holding what looked like a laptop and a glass of water … that would NOT go over well in my house, our Gwen would have that stuff destroyed in no time flat!

This is the cutest video ever, Kim. Thanks for sharing! Hilarious; absolutely hilarious! :)

Laura, my laptop is one of those just plain ‘off-limits’ things. We have very little storage in our house (two closets for the whole thing!) and no shelving in our living room, so it’s a fixture. There’s lots of ‘no - not for baby!’ around the laptop! The glass of water was playing with fire, I’ll admit :)

    Glad you liked it, mom!!
