29 Weeks! What the heck?

So I had my 28 week appointment today. Or so I thought … *insert scary music* dun dun dun!!!!!

My secondary midwife said that she was reading through my chart and looking at my ultrasounds and bloodwork and such and talked with my primary midwife after our visit three weeks ago. She said that she was concerned that we were operating with the wrong date in mind - she says that my growth has been more according to my “original” date of June 14 … so she and Anne agreed that it would be best to operate under the assumption that my “original” date is correct.

So. I’m 29 weeks pregnant now instead of 28. That’s actually quite a big difference - at least it is in my mind! Not much is different for June Bug - he/she is still packing on the fat and apparently depositing a RIDICULOUS amount of calcium in his/her bones every day. Note to self: more calcium!

So, 11 weeks is left, not 12. Eleven. Holy Cow. 12 weeks was three months … 11 weeks, not so much! I feel like we still have so much to do!

Today Brad and I went to pick out the rest of the furniture for our bedroom set. We have it ordered and it should get delivered in 2 - 3 weeks, which is wonderful! I’m looking forward to having our room take shape and not look so thrown-together. We purchased a ‘door chest’ (randomly, Sears sells our set, and you can see this piece of furniture HERE), a six-drawered dresser, and two nightstands. Oh cool! You can actually see our bed HERE. Sorry. That was random! Regardless, I’m thrilled that we’ve bit (bitten?) the bullet and bought the set!

28 Weeks! 7 Months!

28 Weeks profile

Wow - I’m in the home stretch - my third trimester! I can hardly believe just how quickly my pregnancy has flown. I’m sure it’s got something to do with my ridiculous work/school schedule, and it’s really been quite nice for this last two semesters to fly be so quickly. But yeah. Third trimester! It feels like just yesterday we saw that second line and spent our anniversary celebration in awe and shock and hushed whispers about the life I was carrying. Read the rest of this entry »

Soggy lard bread … and a new toy!

My parents were lovely enough to invite Brad and I home for Easter dinner - it was wonderful!!! My mom made turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and cauliflower and broccoli with cheese sauce … and, of course gravy. Mmmm … it was sooooo yummy!! I realized, though, that stuffing is the nastiest thing ever - soggy lard bread with some onion and celery stuffed up a turkey’s butt. How is it soooo delicious? Read the rest of this entry »

27 Weeks! And a contest!

June Bug is going to start opening his/her eyes this week! Up until now, they’ve been fused shut, but he/she is ready to see the world ~ or at least the inside of my uterus! June Bug weighs just over 2 lbs (about 1 kg) and is about 15 inches long. I’m feeling June Bug move CONSTANTLY now ~ although he/she is still shy when other people want to feel! I’ve gotten to feel some really good pokes from little feet and I think I felt some baby bum the other day =)

Work Update

Well, I made an appointment to see my midwife this morning to discuss work accommodation and what she thinks I should/should not be doing.

She has written me a note that I am to go on ‘light duties’ (meaning no lifting over 10 lbs) as of April 15 - I’ll be 30 weeks along. That means that if my employer is not able to give me ‘light duties’ accommodation, April 15 will be my last day of work, and if they are able to accommodate me (my manager said yesterday that they *should* have two weeks of 22.5 hours of paperwork), I will be going off at the end of April. It’s earlier than planned, but really, with my manual labour job, it would be difficult for me to work until we had planned. The plan (to do data entry for April and May) was lovely, but this one will work too. And this way I get to focus on studying for my RNs, exercising, and getting ready for June Bug’s arrival!

26 Weeks!

Well, I know it’s a couple days late, but better late than never!

I was 26 weeks on Friday. June Bug is now 13 inches from head to toe and weighs very close to 2 lbs. He/she can (apparently) move in beat to music - although we haven’t tried this yet - and will soon open his/her eyes and respond to light! I can’t believe how big our baby’s getting!!

Product Review - Henckels Knives

It’s been a while since I’ve done a review of anything, so I figured I’d give ‘er! Last night when we were out for dinner, my parents gave me a bread knife to complete my set of Henckels knives.

These are no ordinary knives, people. These are KNIVES. Having grown up only with Henckels knives, I really had no idea they were all that special - until I went to school and had to buy my own and bought whatever set I could afford. Read the rest of this entry »

25 Weeks + Birthday!

Well, I haven’t updated in a long, long time because I have been super busy. This past week looked like this for me:

  • Monday - 12 hour clinical
  • Tuesday - school in afternoon, homework at night
  • Wednesday - 8 hour day at work
  • Thursday - 12 hour clinical
  • Friday -12 hour clinical
  • Saturday - 12 hour clinical

Yeah. That’s how fun it was. This week I have three 12 hour clinical shifts,  the next week I have NONE, the week after I have one and the week of April 1 I have two. And then I’m FINISHED! Read the rest of this entry »

Surprise!

Six Months 1

Here’s a full profile pic of me from tonight! I *heart* my belly!

Today, I actually had the day off clinical and we went to Brad’s cousin’s for a debriefing of his other cousins’ missions trip to Haiti.

Or so I thought.

We arrived, and shortly thereafter, balloons were brought out and placed behind myself and his cousin’s wife.

Guess what the balloons were for? That’s right - surprise Baby Shower!

It was a lot of fun - and quite surprising, as neither of us had ANY clue! We played a game where there was a list of animals and space beside them all to write down the name of the baby type - ie. Goose - gosling. Brad’s mom won by a LONG shot - she got 24/33. To put that in perspective, I got 14, and Brad’s grandpa got 7! Brad’s mom also brought recipe cards and paper for people to write advice on to put in our baby albums - I’m looking forward to reading what other people have to say!

It was a cash shower, so I’m not going to specify what I got (how tacky would that be??) but it was enough that we shouldn’t be NEEDING much more after we’ve spent it. We have been so, so blessed to have so much given to us - or soon to be bought for us - and I really feel quite prepared, even though we don’t have tonnes of stuff.

(I’ll be eating my words soon when I realize how much the little stuff adds up to!)

Six Months 2

Hello in there, little one!
